Randomness

Oh, life is ever so busy! I have six large events for work before the end of May, one wedding I'm in, and three others to attend. WHEW! (None are mine thankfully.)

As you can tell work is super busy. Having a work phone is good when you need to be away and still work but horrible on a Saturday afternoon when you can't seem to say no to the red flashing light at the top of a BlackBerry. Yes - to be the boss isn't a good feeling all of the time!

Speaking of - I have a contact. A potentially wonderful contact with someone who could make all of my career dreams come true. I don't want to jinx it but let's just say that if it all works our North Carolina could be my next home - and the road my playground. YIPEE!

But, before that I'm producing a Carnival. Yes, a carnival. I'm so not thrilled but it is a good opportunity and the community needs something fun to do! Then I have a Senior Day, Golf Tournament, Appreciation Dinner and a few other things going on as well! Next week I even get to go out of town for a fun conference. YAY!

David's Bridal is on my &%!* list. They always get things wrong. Wrong color, wrong location... UGH! I'm in a wedding in less than three weeks and they sent my dress to another store in another STATE! I was so mad yesterday when I found out... well, let's add the humor of how mad I was.

Yesterday - large Birthday Event for Anniversary of my company. I am in charge.

200 guests arriving at 11:30am

Three deaths in a small town in which the florist was preparing 400 balloons for me and delivering them.

Lots of volunteers running around setting up tables, chairs, decorations and cooking food for event.

10:32am FLORIST CAN'T DELIVER BALLOONS - they are 'swamped' with funerals.

10:36am I leave my location with a caravan of people heading south to pick up balloons.

10:49am After doing 70 in a 55 to get there I arrive at location - all of the balloons are not ready and NONE are in arrangements

10:59am Stuffed all balloons in cars and speed back north

11:08am my phone rings. It's the bride telling me my dress has arrived, but to the wrong store. UGH. Proceed to call DB and they are NOT nice telling me I ordered it from them. Speeding through traffic with 86 balloons in my car (inflated) and I can't see to get over in other lanes - who cares, take the lane.

11:13am Oh hold and hang up phone... 30 balloon arrangements to make ASAP.

Let's just say that after the event was over and I had used the restroom for the fist time all day (2:30pm) I called and had had quite enough from DB. I let them have it. Needless to say they are shipping the dress.

What else is going on? Nothing really - just work and such. Had a physical on Monday and have to have some special testing done. ICK! But that's okay! Optimistic I'm telling you!

And men? Well, we single girls always have to mention that - if not we would drown in the relationship crazed people's bubbling and suffocating happiness... well there are none. Attention happy people: don't act happy go lucky all the time and get ticked when someone tells you the truth that life isn't rosy. Sometimes we know things that you don't... things about your life we're just too nice to tell you the truth and when we do - DO NOT get mad at us. It's your fault for keeping your eyes shut for too long.

Held

Sometimes I feel like it's never enough. I work, receive awards for community service but it's never enough. I'm so lonley that I can't stand it. When I think about someone i've lost along the way i have no one to tell me that it's going to be okay. There is never a person to say they care or to share my goals or excitment with. Im so tired of it all. I've given up everything to have the career and the awards but i have nothing to show for it. Therein is no one to come home to, no one to dry my tears. Friends are only that, they live their own lives and have no idea of the person i've become.

tired

Is it time to make that change? if so how? is it a good thing to just jump in? i'm tired physically and mentally exhausted. it's time to follow dreams and be done. i'm tired of wondering who i will hurt because they've never worried about hurting me.

So close, yet so far away...

As anyone who might actually read this knows - I'm not good at posting items on a regular basis. My life seems to be a gigantic work related mess. Yes, I'm one of those people whose job takes over their lives and they never see daylight.

I am less than a week from a big festival that I produce and have a ton going on. Though this is our second year, it is still a little crazy. My patience is gone and if I want something done I want it done three days ago. Yes, I know what you are thinking - you don't want to work for me? Ah, I'm easy just don't talk back and do your job.

Now, fun? What have I done lately? A girlfriend and I did a Florida trip for Labor Day and had a ball. It was great to recoop and just feel like I'd rested. It's also great to get all dressed up just to go to dinner! LOVE IT! I also seem to be going out on Thursday nights after my festival meetings. These nights make my weeks! It's a lot of fun, I love my committee chairs (we keep joking that we may not love each other when this is over one week from today!).

Last night I actually attended a bachelor auction. It was a hoot! I just loved having a good time for a great cause (kids) and seeing some attractive men! Now, with that being said - no I didn't bid. Even though it is a tax writeoff I have several big things coming up that I can't waste money for. Though, I am going to figure out who the hot Coast Guard guy was, the fact that he has an 8 year old scares me a bit--but hey, why not?

I did meet an attractive guy while doing a tv show in the middle of NOWHERE on Friday. Might work on that, might want to google him first. He's in a band--that can tell a girl a lot about someone! I seem to be in that industry part of the year and know better!

FYI - how does this always end up about men?

Honestly there are none. One guy that I've been talking to for over a year said he wanted to come to the festival. I told him no. I'll be working, we've only met once and he lives on the other end of the state... not going there at this point and won't have to.

After the crazy event is over my next adventure is a concert at a casino. YES! Just have to perfect the perfect outfit!

I was going to do something big for my birthday but it's at Christmas so I'm going to cancel that and just maybe do a spa day. Sounds better anyways... ;)

Well, no funny stories to tell unless you count the fact that we did a woman-less beauty pageant at work the other day and a friend borrowed one of my hot dresses and won! It was great fun! (I seem to get sucked into doing fundraisers all the time!)

Once the craziness of the festival is over I'll try to recap, pray for sunshine next weekend... I need my job! My new car and lasik eye surgery depend on it!

Wedding Two of the year.

Yes, it has been FOREVER since I have written on here but E has convinced me that I need to get back at it.  What better to do that than to write about the wedding festivities for friends that have been going on during the past three months?

First let me let you know where I am in my life.  I’m still single, living in my hometown, working a lot, and generally bored with everything.

First it was Giggles’ wedding.  I was supposed to go over on Friday night so that I could be there to take photographs at the rehearsal, so didn’t happen.  I went to bed that Tuesday night feeling like a big bag of poo.  I was so sick that I didn’t really want to go to work the next day, but I survived it. Wednesday was rough and I was just tired, that night I got REALLY sick.  My back and head were killing me!  I woke up on Thursday and HAD to work as I had an important meeting.  During the meeting my fever broke.  S.W.E.A.T.  To the point that in thirty minutes it had SOAKED through my sweater and it looked like my boobs were leaking, seriously – and they’re real.  UGH!  I yanked my hair up in a clip and survived but I looked horrible! I went home and went to bed, FREEZING.  Without telling you the gruesome details I will just say that this pattern lasted until Friday night.

Saturday morning I got up and took care of finding something to eat, as I hadn’t ate in days, finally drank a soda and survived.  I decided to suck it up and head East to see Giggles get married.  Can I tell you that I went through 4 states to get there?  That is big in the South.  I’m talking to a guy that lives in that general area and decided that if it took me that long to get there and over that many mountains maybe it isn’t even worth it.  UGH!  I made it to the wedding right as they were getting ready to walk down the aisle.

Wedding is short and sweet, beautiful setting.  On we go to the reception where there is an open bar for two hours.  Sick or not, it was time for a beer.  One turned into ten and then it was time to hit up the dance floor, so we did!  It was a lot of fun.  Time for the reception to end—okay, time for more fun!  I stayed with our wonderful gay guy friends and had a ball.  CK decided to go to bed while Greg and I decided to party it up.  Well, that was our original thought, we ended up having a heart to heart on the dock then walking to the bar next door only to find 1-it was closing, 2- I didn’t have my ID and 3- we didn’t have to walk on the road, there was a bridge.  After coming back to the hotel my bartender friend had gotten off work and the girl was working.  CRAP, 1-I’m straight, 2-Greg’s gay.  “Do you have your ID?”  “No.” “Go get it.” UGH!  So I woke CK up and ran into the grooms brother and sister, both in their late 30’s early 40’s banging on the bridal suite, ‘WE NEED CIGARETTES.’

Finally the bride and groom give up and come join us at the bar—gotta love that!

Wedding two – HOT.  More info coming soon…

on the cover of the rolling stone...

So, Almost Famous is one of my favorite films ever! So right now I am sitting in a bar listening to a Rolling Stones cover band. Not thrilled but here.

I was promised we would be doing dinner then a comedy show where I could sit, hence the five in hooker boots. As my fried and her friends dance I blog. Concrete and heels with NO padding hurts.

Well more to come... Drama.

Another gala down...

So this past weekend was the annual Gala where I work. I dread the occasion every year because of the following:
  1. I have to get ready for it. By this I mean, take the reservations, deal with the facility, band, caterer, hotel and so much more. Even this year up until about an hour before it began I was dealing with place cards and seating because people kept inviting others--it was mass chaos. What do I hear from my employee? We have to keep certain people happy. Fine, I got my hair done and she took care of the drama. I had a bit of a rant last week where I said...
  2. I don't deal with kindergartners, if I wanted to do that I would be a teacher and therefore make more money and get the summer off. People need to learn to grow up. I don't care who you are or what you do. You deserve nothing more than everyone else does as far as seating goes. I sit up front because I want to and I make the seating arrangements. Thank you.
  3. Don't beg me to know who the winner of an award is. Don't think so Mr. Not going to get a leak from me. Remember, I went to school for media bud. I got your number. (Not literally because I wouldn't really want it.)
  4. I loose a weekend. Yup, I came home on Friday at seven just to have to go back to the office around nine p.m. Just what I wanted to do. To top it off because of the name card/seating drama I had to go back to the office on Saturday after I had my hair done.
  5. The money. Yes, it is expensive to attend a black tie event. Dress, nails, makeup, hair, jewelry and shoes? If I'd had to have paid for my hotel room I would be broke.
  6. Yes, I had to stay on site--not something that I generally like doing because then I had to do brunch the next day.
  7. Alone. Yup, third year in a row without a date. Wah-freakin-who. I work so hard that I don't get to date and then when I don't show up with someone I am questioned. WTH people! Do you want me to do my job or have a boyfriend? Also on this subject, how would you like it if your mama saw you in the paper with some random guy she didn't know. Yeah, you wouldn't like that either. I am in the paper a lot and therefore have to be careful.
So, did I have fun after all of that mess. YES! I started with my Jack a bit after three p.m. while I was dealing with the band, caterer, tables, florist and everything else. The two chairs for the event were a hoot as well as my friend Vivi and her husband. We laughed and laughed. After the event began and all the fuss was over it was time to dance. Now, I never dance with less than 10 people on the dance floor. It is my rule. Whatever-rules are meant to be broken. I danced the entire night and loved it. Once the whole thing it was over we went further out on the town. Great! Though, I did get hit on my this big good ole boy. Seriously. His pickup line was, 'another time and another place and I would take you home with me.' To which I said, 'darlin', I have a hotel room and it's full tonight.' Was it really? No, but I had to make my point. He was creepy and rather large--to which he had me blocked into the corner. So yeah, not going there.

Anyways, it was the most fun gala I've ever attended even if I did have to sleep alone in my plush king size bed. Oh yeah, and I was even nice to the woman who made me cry at my festival.

Random side note: am I a magnet for married men? I am beginning to think so! With their wives in the rooms! Ugh!
