- I have to get ready for it. By this I mean, take the reservations, deal with the facility, band, caterer, hotel and so much more. Even this year up until about an hour before it began I was dealing with place cards and seating because people kept inviting others--it was mass chaos. What do I hear from my employee? We have to keep certain people happy. Fine, I got my hair done and she took care of the drama. I had a bit of a rant last week where I said...
- I don't deal with kindergartners, if I wanted to do that I would be a teacher and therefore make more money and get the summer off. People need to learn to grow up. I don't care who you are or what you do. You deserve nothing more than everyone else does as far as seating goes. I sit up front because I want to and I make the seating arrangements. Thank you.
- Don't beg me to know who the winner of an award is. Don't think so Mr. Not going to get a leak from me. Remember, I went to school for media bud. I got your number. (Not literally because I wouldn't really want it.)
- I loose a weekend. Yup, I came home on Friday at seven just to have to go back to the office around nine p.m. Just what I wanted to do. To top it off because of the name card/seating drama I had to go back to the office on Saturday after I had my hair done.
- The money. Yes, it is expensive to attend a black tie event. Dress, nails, makeup, hair, jewelry and shoes? If I'd had to have paid for my hotel room I would be broke.
- Yes, I had to stay on site--not something that I generally like doing because then I had to do brunch the next day.
- Alone. Yup, third year in a row without a date. Wah-freakin-who. I work so hard that I don't get to date and then when I don't show up with someone I am questioned. WTH people! Do you want me to do my job or have a boyfriend? Also on this subject, how would you like it if your mama saw you in the paper with some random guy she didn't know. Yeah, you wouldn't like that either. I am in the paper a lot and therefore have to be careful.
Anyways, it was the most fun gala I've ever attended even if I did have to sleep alone in my plush king size bed. Oh yeah, and I was even nice to the woman who made me cry at my festival.
Random side note: am I a magnet for married men? I am beginning to think so! With their wives in the rooms! Ugh!
